The God Don’t Like It site as been fairly defunct since I stopped promoting shows but I thought why not just post some music I’v been loving. Hopefully some people will hear some new music to them that they love.

I bought the compilation Brand New Wayo; Funk, Fast Times and Nigerian Boogie Badness 1979 - 1983 after hearing it in Power Luncehs.

One of the best records I’v bought in a long long time. Pure joyous good times. You can get it in all sorts of online shops and good record stores.

Blue on Blue / Os Ovni - Vision Imaginary / Holographic Dreams now available to pre-order.

Our next release will be a special transatlantic Double-EP - or transatlantic Split EP, however you want to take it, between now Jacksonville / Florida based space travellers Os Ovni and London’s deconstructed pop experimentalists Blue on Blue - the concept of transatlantic cooperation was something we aimed to do a long time, and in this case it also shows to amazing emerging bands, drawing similar influences in their music from the likes of Broadcast and Bruce Haack.

For this release we are going to have extensive video material - such as the Holographic Dreams video released earlier, and we will also releasing a whole remix EP for both sides as a free download later on, with tracks being re-imagined by other transatlantic artists (going to post some teasers later on for that).

Pre-order is now available, release date is aimed to be May 28. First pressing is limited to 300 copies, coming in a special, fittingly psychedelic colour scheme.

This is the first transatlantic split EP to be released on Robot Elephant Records, bringing two uniquely talented and wonderful bands together in the form of Blue on Blue from London and Os Ovni from Florida - exploring new sonic territory in the legacy of Broadcast, Sun Ra Arkestra, Caroliner and Bruce Haack.

Blue On Blue ‘Vision Imaginary’

Paying homage to their roots whilst taking a bold step into raw, personal musical expression, Blue On Blue present the world with their second offering ‘Vision Imaginary’. Dee Sada and Billy Steiger voice a potent collection of experimental and deeply personal journeys.

Opener, ‘Silent Walls’ illustrates the band’s unconventional approach to song structure while ‘The Machinery Link of Heart and Soul’ is a modern day hymn; the duo’s ecclesiastical interpretation of deep personal loss. Final track, ‘Night Terrors’ is an intimate account of when inner demons and hallucinations become a cold, harsh certainty. It is a terrifying exploration of the fine lines between nightmares, madness and reality.

The EP title is taken from a line from the poem ‘Our Saviour’ by Nepalese poet Shiv Shamsher Rasaily, Dee’s grandfather. An acclaimed poet and author, he is also winner of the Sahitya Akademi Award, the second highest literary award in India. The EP cover is from a stained glass window in St Georges church, Beckenham, part of a set designed and made by Billy’s great- grandfather, Tom Freeth, just after the second World War.

OS OVNI ‘Holographic Dreams’

Fresh off a two-month U.S. tour which ended on New Year’s Day in New Orleans opening for the Silver Apples, OS OVNI are currently residing in Florida building unique electronic music instruments and recording a full length album for release in 2012.

Emerging from the more idiosyncratic side of reality, the duo of Logan Owlbeemoth and Omebi Velouria build minimal sonic structures around time travel pop hooks using warm synths, galactic dipped vocals, colourful costumes set in a 2070’s celluloid film setting and visual projections made of hyper changing colourful pixel bits of other dimensional beings.

….As the collision of rebellious oscillations and layered harmonics clash and hum, it seems that their music is trying to pry open a gateway to its own science fictional universe. The shimmering gateway opens, and what you find when you look inside is OS OVNI.

Reality Shock have come up with a stellar line-up here: Soom T, Solo Banton and Afrikan Simba take over one side of the Ancient Time 12”, expected to come out in May this year. Despite the line-up though, my highlight from this stream is the gorgeous Aqua Livi track Ancient Times.

I’m very excited to announce a very late notice show with Edinburgh’s Meursault at Old Blue Last on the 27th March.

It’s the first show that I’v put on since calling it a day at the end of last year and I’m very excited to have them down.

I want to stress that this isn’t GDLI getting back going again and I won’t be putting on a lot of shows or anything. I’m very much enjoyed the back of it to be honest! This is helping out some friends and an incredible gig I really wanted to do.

Their 3rd album “Something for the Weakened” was recently announced for July via Song, By Toad records and this will be the first chance to hear a lot of the new songs plus some old favorites.

Support comes from the wonderful Neverest Songs and I’l be playing some tunes to warm things up for both of them.
